My name is April and I am the proud Program Administrator for Opening Doors to Success Inc.! Long ago, I came to this amazing organization seeking assistance in my job search and confidence building. I was new to Steinbach and this place was the top recommendation from many persons in the community. I continue to be so very grateful for the variety of free services that I was able to utilize to benefit both my professional and personal growth.
Within a couple of months, I was hired as the Program Assistant/Receptionist and shortly after that, was promoted to Pre-employment Coach. A couple of years after that, I was promoted to Management in this fabulous organization, and here I am in year 7, still extremely proud and grateful to be a part of this incredible, small but mighty family. We in a nutshell are “real people helping real people”.
My career heart has found it’s home with Opening Doors to Success Inc., providing services where I can help others overcome some of the most daunting life circumstances to feel more confident, supported, appreciated, inspired and motivated.
In my personal life, I’m a bit quirky in my tastes; I have a very open and accepting mind and sense of humour, I adore my dog and 2 cats, I have a passion for wild weather, nature, animals, music, events, travel, the Universe, the paranormal, psychology aaand I really enjoy a nice warm bath with a glass of Sangria to ease away a good work week!

I love seeing the excitement and growth in my fellow community members as they embrace our services and begin to blossom with confidence! This newfound confidence is what helps them rise to their full potential and get hired!
My dream of a program that would do what it has done for the past 10 years, was born from realizing my own skills and strengths, overcoming obstacles and taking action. The coaching and services we offer at ODS are the fundamentals of how I realized my dream of this amazing program.
I am also a certified professional life coach, and teacher.
I would not enjoy this amazing success without my amazing husband, my beautiful family, friends, my cat Bella, my dog Shammy, and my cockatiel Sweetie.
My name is Diane Marca, and I am a Job Coach and Workshop Facilitator at Opening Doors to Success. I believe meaningful work can build confidence, direction, and purpose, and I feel blessed to support others as they take brave steps toward their goals.
My background is a unique mix of education, animal health, business development, training, and community support. I am a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine by education and have worked in veterinary diagnostics, technical sales, customer support, and business development across Southeast Asia and Canada. After moving to Manitoba, I also had the privilege of working as an Educational Assistant, supporting children, newcomer students, and families in a caring and practical way.
As someone who has experienced change, relocation, career transitions, and starting again in a new community, I understand the value of encouragement, patience, and the right support. At ODS, I bring both my professional experience and my heart for helping people feel seen, capable, and hopeful. In my personal life, I am a wife and mom to three wonderful children — a true “MrsMommyHolic.” I love learning, creating welcoming spaces, supporting my community, and animals will always have a special place in my heart.
My name is Audrey Poetker. I am the receptionist at Opening Doors to Success. I was a widow of less than 2 years when I came to ODS, nervous about what the future might bring. I had spent the previous 30 years farming and translating German-to -English books. I also had a background in insurance, but it had been so many years since I had worked at a "regular job". I did not know how many of my past experiences would land in my new life. When our unemployed clients arrive, I understand their anxiety and welcome them with the same compassion as I was welcomed with by the staff of ODS.
I am the granddaughter of Mennonite refugees and have the experience of living in other countries. This I feel has given me the understanding of the sense of dislocation many newcomers to our country feel. This is something I try to bring forward in my job as the first greeter, the receptionist.
and I enjoy my 2 horses, and am a mom to 2 dogs, Shura and Nina who occasionally grace our offices.
